Frequently Asked Questions

On this page you will find answers to some of the more frequently questions we get about our products and other related topics.

The 'OO'/E.M. profile used is the one developed by Brian Rogers and Guy Williams for use on Pendon, which was later adopted by the E.M.G.S. The 18.83 profile is a scaled down version of the prototype P1 form.

This refers to the track gauge which each can be used on. The track gauge for each are as follows: 'OO' Fine scale=16.5mm, E.M.=18.2mm and 18.83=18.83mm.

'OO' Fine scale is the standard to which we manufacture our 'OO' wheel sets. These sets use the same track gauge as 'OO' (16.5mm) together with our 'OO'/E.M. wheel profile. This means that they are not suitable for out of the box 'set track' and should only be used for fine scale track work like Peco code 75 and code 100 as well as other fine scale track.

The nearest is our 'OO'/E.M. profile, which is close to the RP25/88 specification.

Our 'OO' Fine scale wheels sets have the same track gauge (16.5mm) as HO.

manufactured from either Nickel Silver or Brass and the centres are injection moulded Nylatron GS.

We do not recommend that any machining or modifications are made to any of the wheels we supply, as this could cause irreparable damage to them.

For final assembly, we recommend the use of Loctite 601 or 603 retainer.

No, if you only change the axles, the drive gear position will no longer be correct and the clearance between the back of the wheels and the bogie will also be wrong.

Yes, our 100DP fine pitch spur gear range will mesh with both the RG4 and RG7 final drive gears.

In all the time we have been making conversions, we have not found it necessary to supply detailed assembly instructions. We do have simple data sheets for some of the conversions (i.e. the Bachmann 3F 'Jinty' for example) and these can be found in the products section with the conversion, by clicking on the information con next to it. Then looking at the data sheet entry, if this entry is not present then no data sheet is available for that conversion.

You can, but we DO NOT recommend the use of a quartering fixture/jig on our products as this can damage the wheels.
